On 28 Febuary,  the ICS Programme held a Multi-stakeholder Meeting at Learning House of Development in Vientiane.  The meeting was facilitated by the Association for Rural Mobilization and Improvement (ARMI).  Forty-three people attended, including 13 women.

During the meeting, Mr. Inthone Sophapmixay, ICS Programme Team Leader for Vientiane, presented the seven Expected Results of the programme as well as updates regarding progress towards each Expected Result in the Programme’s three provinces.  The ICS Programme Plan for 2014 was also presented, including production and sales targets, as well as promotion and quality control plans.  Finally,  participants were updated on the development of the new ICS (prototype 4), which will be smaller, lighter and cheaper, while maintaining  the  same performance standards.

Result 7: Multi-stakeholder meeting, a successful between stove producers, retailers and consumer network.

On the 28th of August, a national multi-stakeholder meeting was conducted, with the aim of convening various actors in the stove supply chain as well as representatives from supporting organisations to share ideas and experiences related to the ICS programme.  Highlights included discussion about the establishment of an ICS producers’ association, which will be further explored during the follow-up national multi-stakeholder meeting in 2014.

Result 6: National Quality Standard approved by Ministry of Science and Technology

The ICS programme staff of ARMI and SNV maintain close contact with relevant governmental bodies, such as the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Science and Technology via informal means as well as more formal face-to-face meetings.  The programme has prepared all papers and forms required to register the label for copyright protection, which is the first step in the formalization of the stove label.
